Even though they claim to have great customer service and be military friendly, I had a different experience. I am stationed overseas and needed to store some of my belongings locally in a storage unit. I researched the different options locally and found this unit to be very competitive in both location and price. I visited the unit in person and reserved it with a down payment. I confirmed my move-in date (Saturday) three times over the phone with the managers and was told I could move in anytime. During these confirmations, I found they actually lost my reservation twice. I arrived with everything loaded in a truck on Saturday at 5 pm, but they were closed. They apparently close at 4 pm on a Saturday and are not open at all on Sunday, which I find odd since weekends are prime move-in times for most people. The managers never told me this when I confirmed my move-in date over the phone multiple times, again they actually said I could move in anytime. When I arrived and saw they were closed, I called the weekend call center and they would not help me. I was told "employees also need their days off so I cant have anyone come to open the unit for you." She was unwilling to call a local manager to open the unit. I explained that I was in the military and actually came back from my overseas location this weekend to specifically help arrange my move, so I dont have the option of coming back on Monday. Everything had been arranged to move in that weekend, including a truck rental, hiring moving help, and taking military leave. The call center still did not help me, in fact they encouraged me to take my belongings to another storage unit if needed. I was absolutely furious and had to scramble to find another storage unit at the last minute. I was then told my reservation deposit is non-refundable as that is company policy. How is that for good customer service?!? Other noteworthy things I noticed about this company: they have changed managers since I started dealing with them, they cannot offer a free truck rental with moving in anymore because they lost their insurance (a manager told me this), and their gate sign still says they are open on Sunday despite their actual hours. I was going to rent a unit for 3 years while overseas, and my parents were also going to likely rent one. Thats two long term units they lost for which they dont seem to care. All this points to a poorly managed or failing business with customers not the top priority. I would be very wary before committing to this company. Who knows what would have happened to my belongings if I ended up moving in with them.

Buyer Beware! I have had a unit with this company for a number of years, was unfortunately grandfathered in due to the previous companies bankruptcy. As I travel extensively both local and international I needed a storage unit. In the last year my rate has gone from $122 per month to $174.00 with little to no warning. I am not even on the ground floor. When I called an inquired as to why, I was told that the manager had done comparisons in the area and that was my new rate. They then added on another $9.00 a month for "insurance" and I was told I would need to bring in my home owners policy and they would remove it. I am still waiting on someone to tell me how much is the coverage and what is my deductible. They are very quick to blow up your phone for payment and love to add late fees, even when their site is down and you are unable to pay. If you call them to make payment over the phone there is an extra charge. I have written a letter to all the Base Commanders in Hampton Roads hoping one of them will blacklist this company, whom seem to like taking advantage of our Military and their constant deployments. We also plan to send a letter to our local Congress Representative and hopefully we can get a bill passed that will limited what these companies can and cannot due in the State of Virginia. My advice stay away, even with two months free rent.

I did a lot of shopping around for a storage unit for a deployment and found this place to be MORE than competitive cost wise. It pretty much blew the competition out of the water actually. The real plus for me though was when my deployment was cancelled on very short notice the property manager (Keith I think was his name), bent over backwards to help me out by communicating with his corporate office and explaining the circumstances, which led to a full refund of my money, even though I had signed a contract. If this place were to jack up their prices and become more expensive than the competition, i would probably STILL go back there just because the customer service was so good and they helped me out when I needed it.

iStorage is a wonderful, clean and well maintained facility. I also love how safe and well lit the grounds are. I recently enjoyed working with a gentleman named Mark. He went out of his way to keep in touch with me about the status of my account while I was going through a difficult time. I understand that he did not have to check in with me and he could have chosen to not care, but instead, he demonstrated what true and superb customer service really is. I would absolutely recommend iStorage to anyone whos looking for a storage unit at a great and fair price.

Been using these guys for a few months now without any issues. My payments come out automatically on time and the units are clean and free from pests. One thing Ive noticed is if youre using Google Maps to GPS your way to this place is that youll want to put in the actual address of the place (951 Ernies Way) and not use the button for directions from your browser that will make it appear as something like "iStorage Norfolk." Using the latter will take you a back road way that wont actually get you you to where you want to go in my experience.

Immaculate service! Best customer service Ive ever experienced by far. The staff at the Norfolk, Virginia location (Christopher&Angela) are very nice and hard working to make the customers happy. The prices are very great for the space they are giving and they have a very tidy and clean facility. I havent experienced any problems with my unit nor my payments unlike other facilities Ive been to. Definitely recommend everyone to go to iStorage in Norfolk Virginia.

I have been a long time customer w/ IStorage ( even through the management change) and their customer service has been impeccable! Whenever I had a question or a concern Angela or Chris were always ready to help me at a moments notice. I definitely recommend them if you are ever in need of a storage facility!!! After searching for different storage facilities I chose Istorage, this facility has the best rates and deals in Norfolk. I received the best customer service, and an welcoming attitude from staff member Angela, she informed me of which unit would best suite my needs as well as giving me a tour of the grounds. Their customer service is seriously above and beyond the call of duty; I appreciated it so, so much! Mark accommodated me when I arrived after hours and he let me know as soon as he received my paperwork. He answered all my questions promptly and fully. He honestly made the incredibly hard process of moving much easier and much more hassle-free than I expected. Thank you!
