The WORST cable service ever!!! Rudest customer service to my wife who constantly switch up what they say to her!!! Treat a working family horribly because we cant and WONT pay their OUTRAGEOUS prices for cable equiptment!!! We had Mediacom in Huxley when we first lived here then we moved a block away not thinking the cable provider would be different. Turns out it was we HAD to go through Huxley Communications which has been a nightmare for my wife and my family ever since!!! We are a working class family that sometimes lives paycheck to paycheck or have little in savings for simple emergencies. Huxley Communications told my wife she needed a $25 deposit to join when she went in she paid it then charged her another $75 because she didnt have references. She went to Mediacom they didnt accept that due to our being late a day here or there never had a disconnection ever just a day or two late due to timing of pay. Nope didnt count they want us to pay $100 now for every box for every TV in our house to have cable because to them we are not credible payment customers and dont pay our bills on time!!! Even though all our equipment was returned to Mediacom off of all 4 of our TVs!!! This is RIDICULOUS!!!! I work I have custody of my son I provide for my family I have bills I pay them on time in SONG have $400 to shell out just to have my son enjoy some cartoons or a movie or myself and wife enjoy some of our favorite shows after a hard days work!!! On the weekends when our cable goes out this crap company isnt even around to fix their outages!! Like today!!! Their Wi-Fi used to be good lately it has been slow!!! I like the town of Huxley but Huxley Communications is HORRIBLE!!! Not right they are our only choice!!! I will do everything I can to get get another company in here also!!! Not right!!! Crooks!!! Karma...

Update edit: Despite fiber optic, our speed right now is a pitiful 8.97 up and 2.93 down. I pay for 12 up which is still very low for todays standards. We have ONE TV and cannot even stream ONE half hour YouTube video without getting the "loading circle of death." Hence, were still being swindled by this company. Its the World Series, Game 7, Cubs making history and it was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. This was the final straw with this company. Ive spent the hour and a half of the game searching, calling, push 3, push 2, leave a voicemail, getting "I cant help you I dont help with cable, but it should be on FOX." After searching online it was listed on 004. We DONT EVEN HAVE 004! When I finally got a call back it was 0017, KDSMDT channel, whatever that is. We had set it to record and it did not work. It was unsearchable because it was misnamed in the guide as the show Empire. We just got the fiber optic put in and the user interface is TERRIBLE. The loading time for the guide in itself is slow. The search doesnt work half the time, cannot search by channel, its confusing as all hell and I am an internet professional. We randomly lose channels for a week at a time, showing "no data retrieval." They charge outrageously non-competitive pricing for a low-speed, low-grade product because there is no competing service in Kelley or Huxley. My counterparts in DSM and Ames are paying half of what I pay and can actually work from home without cursing at the screen. I hope technology or regulations surpass their monopolistic stronghold and forces them to legitimately compete, or be obsolete.

Edit: I am editing this review to include the new Skitter system for those that can now receive this service via Huxleycom. The channel lineup is improved and includes AMC and several additional sports channels which has caused me to raise my star ranking, I have noticed an increase in internet speed and function, however I believe this to be attributed to Skitter allowing the use of my personal router instead of the router provided by Huxleycom. This is a step in the right direction and if you are a Huxleycom user I suggest asking about this service. The base speed / price for internet needs to be improved, all other service providers have a cheaper base price for higher output, and the gap is growing. Lastly of note, the owner of Huxleycom has replied to this review, and I appreciate that, albeit 8 months after my original review. End Edit. I wish this service where better, I really want to support local providers. The loss of AMC recently has been another hard pill to swallow. The internet service is incapable of supporting 2 streaming services at the same time in our home. I do enjoy the unlimited data, which is a huge plus, however streaming speed doesnt allow you to capitalize on that data or high frame rates for online gaming. I would love an increase in internet speed and the return of AMC to the channel lineup, for the price I currently pay for service I could achieve both of these wants by switching companies, and save some.

Worst internet provider... constant connection issues, price is too high for service like this. I have talked to 3 people who own Huxcomm as a provider and everyone of us have the same problem. Internet constantly connects and disconnects, every 5 seconds or so. They refuse to send anyone down to help resolve issue until you call this service number and they themselves give the okay. Huxcomm will constantly try to blame other things Ex. Router or cords. Theyll absolutely refuse to help, or upgrade theyre own equipment. If you want an overpriced internet, customer service who refuse to help you, and internet that works in bursts instead of constant stream, this is the Company for you... I hope people take the time to read this, please save yourself the time and money, go with a company worth the price. Please, talk with your wallets and say no, Huxcomm dont deserve it.

We have had a fiber connection into our house since moving to Huxley over 3 years ago. And yet the best speed they offer today is 12 down, 1 up, for a ridiculous price. The only affordable (and its still ridiculously priced!) service is 8 down, 1 up, which is barely sufficient for a household with growing kids these days. The excuse they give - "since we cant offer higher speeds to everyone just yet, we wont offer it to anyone" - simply doesnt make any sense. The real reason? They have no competition in Huxley, so they can get away with charging as much as they want for as long as they want. Until Mediacom comes to town, I expect we might see a marginal speed increase, but it will be for an unreasonable amount more per month. Though I wouldnt expect anything to change for another year or so anyway - no competition, why rush things...

Huxcomm is a small, local coop that cares a lot about and does a lot for the community. They heavily support the local schools, businesses, and organizations through donations and sometimes offering free services to public locations such as libraries. That being said, their Internet services in Kelley arent always reliable. The service often experiences massive slowdowns (From around 8Mbps down to as slow as 0.75Mbps down) and occasionally completely cuts out. Beyond that, the pricing is much, much higher than the national average. The customer support and service is decent, and staff members such as Mike Leeds keep in reliable, constant contact when you need them or report an issue. Im waiting to see how the deployment of a new fiber optic network effects the services and speeds that we get. Im hoping its for the better.
