I had to stay home from work several days to get them to install my cable and internet right and I set up several appointments and the installation guys didnt even bother to show up. I call customer service and they are rude and spend most of the time trying to sell you something and dont even listen to your problem. So needless to say i dont recommend them. Although i had high hopes because i had mediacom in Mason City and they were great. oct 26 2013, i called mediacom to cancel my phone service and they said that i would have to pay a early termination fee, i was able to have them forgive that fee because they could not verify that i had this so called contract they keep talking about. So I asked how much basic internet is and they said 29.95 and then later said there is a 15 dollar monthly charge for "cable service" plus 5 for modem, ect. Why tell me the price is 29.95 when the price is really $50+? Anyways, i decided to continue to buy just the basic internet and cable tv and they sent a guy out for "service" (which i didnt know what that was for, because im all hooked up already) and i get home last night and my cable tv doesnt work, turns out they put a filter on my line for some reason even though im paying for cable tv. Every time i call them they try to sell me there phone service, I dont want it! Gez. Now even more recently , i was browsing there website, put in my address and got customized deals just for me and i noticed Prime internet for 9.95/mo so i asked why i cant get that and was told this is only offered to current customers that do not have internet yet, well it doesnt say that anywhere...so anyways.. im just updating this because the last 2 years nothing has gotten any better.

This is the worst company in town and they do not even try to improve. It is as if they pride themselves on being a bad company. I want to move to Cedar Falls just so I no longer have to use hem for service. I could write a book on all the issues that Mediacom has. I have no idea where to start. They consistently have the internet and phone go down several times a week it is ridicules. We have cable included in our bill and they never connected it, when we finally got it connected they would not reimburse the time we did not have it which was their fault. When talking to them over the phone about this they were very rude and even told me "to go ahead and try and get a lawyer" after I said I would get one to get the reimbursement. Now every time I answer my phone the internet goes down until I get off the phone. Who knows how long this problem will last. If there was a way to rate Mediacom with negative stars I would. This is a horrible company, it is so bad I am thinking about writing letters to someone to get the state involved and putting some guidelines in place for the company. It is like Mediacom is ran by children and would fix their issues unless they are forced to do so. Well I have said enough but trust me there is more I could say but I will stop there.

I realize Im in the minority with this review, but stick with me. I originally called yesterday to cancel my internet service (my girlfriend and I are moving in together, and she transferred her service). I was told the department that accepts those calls was not currently taking them. The representative I talked to took my name and information and put in a ticket to have someone call me back, which I was assured would be within a couple of hours. Twenty-four hours went by and no call. I called back today and was put on the line with Bryan after maybe 30-second wait. I told Bryan what I wanted to do, he asked a couple of clarifying questions then put me on hold to put in my request. A minute later, he was back on, telling me all I had to do now was return the cable modem and I would be good. Great service and tone, thanked me for being a customer and that was it. Again, I know Im in the minority in the reviews. The only reason its not a 5-start was because I had to wait and got no response after my "ticket" was put in.

Ive had Mediacom over the years and their customer service just gets worse and worse. They have a monopoly on the area, and they know it. No competition whatsoever. I have been trying to get them to fix my internet for the past 2 months. Now that it has started kicking me off the internet every 5 mins, they acknowledge that its a problem on THEIR end (before they were blaming it on my modem/router and I had to replace them). Now it is going to take me a week to get someone to come fix my internet. They dont care that I have been having issues for 2 months with no help from them. They dont care that I have homework that I need to do before then. All they care about is getting me off the phone. Whether it is lying saying that dispatch is going to call me to squeeze me in today for an appointment or it is lying saying that they have identified the problem and it is an issue on my end. Terrible terrible at trying to retain customers. But we are stuck with them. And that is why they are so terrible.

I dont usually have a problem with mediacom, other than the high prices for no reason, and the occasional outage which for me, has usually been a simple call away to fix. So when I call and have someone scheduled to come fix our internet when it goes out, and they dont show up, its very irritating! I call to find out what the deal is, and they claim since I didnt answer my phone call from the dispatch, they went ahead and cancelled my appointment all together. I was home all afternoon waiting for a knock at my door! They were scheduled to come between 3 and 5, i got one missed call from them at 4. I called back and got a recording to confirm my appointment. I confirmed and hung up. Still nobody bothered to show! Now I have to wait another 2 days, after I already waited 2 days for the original appointment. Very frustrating! Come to the door next time, whether you receive a call from me or not! You were scheduled for an appointment, so please show up!

Never had an issue with the internet. Always got what was advertised regarding speed. What annoys me is the constant letters that they send me to tell me "were sorry d/t administrative fees and costs your bill will be up by another 5$ more dollars"..... I wish there was another provider in this area or that CFU serviced waterloo. Mediacom is pushing their limits with me... 70$ for just internet is ridiculous! People in other cities pay 30$ less for the same speeds. Other option in my area is centery link, but 3mbps is a joke, but in all honestly I might actually switch cause Im fed up with the price hikes and I hope others switch as well.
