Update: Im On did reach out to me as they stated they would below. As I said in my original review, their customer service has always been solid, and this only reinforces that. As for the quality of the service itself, the weekend outage was resolved and we have had relatively good connection for the last week. Heres hoping that remains the case. Ever the optimist, I am upgrading my rating based on the issues being resolved and the excellent follow up from the customer service team. Hopefully the service will remain consistent and this is the last time Ill need to edit this post. Im located on the SW side of Cedar Rapids (Stoney Point area). Ive used Im On for internet service at this address for 5+ years. Over the last 18 months, Ive experienced nearly constant issues with the quality of our internet connection, particularly from ~7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Im paying for an 80 down / 4 up connection, and while Im usually within 10% of those numbers overall, the ping & jitter on the line during that period of the day is so bad that anything other than just basic internet browsing is impossible. Its not uncommon to see 200-400 ms jitter. When I run a speedtest the graph of my download speed looks like a heartbeat monitor. Ive called them and had techs out to the house multiple times during this period. Very long story short: the reason for the poor service is that they need to upgrade the hub in my area, which theyve been in the process of doing for over a year now. They are the only provider in the area with unlimited internet, and apparently they are not equipped to handle their customer base taking full advantage of that. Theyve also told me that many people in my area need to upgrade their modems and that until they do there will be continued issues. Customer service is relatively solid. Unfortunately the problem is beyond customer services control, so while they are friendly, apologetic, and are quick to offer credits to your bill, they cant resolve the issue. Im told that they should have the upgrades in place by the end of this month (been hearing that for a year now, though). I did see improvement over the last couple weeks, and told them so, but now today its worse than it has been for some time and Im simply fed up. I appreciate their willingness to credit my account, but poor internet service at a discount doesnt really do much for me. I would LOVE to give them more money in exchange for service that works. The issue isnt cost, its quality. Im getting very close to the point where I have to sign up with Mediacom just to get working service. Im very reluctant to do this. Ive used them in the past. Their customer service is a nightmare and they have limited internet that is far overpriced. Still, if they can provide service that actually works when I want to use it, its better than continuing to pay for something that doesnt work. I honestly think they are a good company, and certainly better than Mediacom, but its completely unacceptable that theyve failed to resolve this problem for as long as they have. I sincerely hope that changes - Id love to update this post with a better rating soon.

ImOn used to be the choice for reasonably priced TV and internet. There TV service is a bit crappy as the display cuts off the edges of the screen but I used to put up with that for the price. The problem is that once your contract ends they jack up your price! Way to reward loyal long term customers. Every year I have been calling to get a new promo to keep the price down, but this year they increased their prices over 50 percent on both cable and internet. I called to see if they had a promo and they said they can offer 10.00 off cable and 5.00 off internet. I have already cancelled the cable service which was over 80.00 a month for pretty basic service, and will be cancelling my internet in the next week or 2 which is over 60.00 a month for what the say is 20 mbps, but really is less then 10 mbps. My neighbor used to work for an internet provider and measured the speed and it was roughly 7 mbps, not the 20 I am over paying for. Overall with ImOns increased pricing and cut rate service I would suggest anyone look for alternatives as ImOn is overcharging for their services and there are much more reasonable plans out there! Update: I kept the internet service for a while after disconnecting cable. I started a job at home and my internet is reimbursed so it wasnt a big deal to keep Im On. I moved my office to another room and everything was fine for 2 weeks. Then my internet started moving really slow and eventually quit. Media come replaced 2 routers in 3 months and my service is still slow. I had a technician come out and he complained that I had a splitter in the line slowing the service. The splitter was on an old line that ImOn neglected to change when they installed my service. They charged me 75.00 for the technician visit because the splitter was from Mediacom. That line is what ImOn hooked up so I dont know why I have to pay 75.00 because they didnt put in a new line when they installed the service. I complained about the fee and they told me they understand my situation and would request a credit, but said it probably wont get credited! I have new service being installed next week and would NEVER recomend ImOn! They do shotty installs, have shotty speeds, and then charge you to come fix their errors! Oh and Imon says my picture issue is the TV ratio. The TV ratio settings on my TV are correct and ImOns cable cuts off the sides on every TV in the house no matter the ratio setting.!

I am truly sorry I was ever lead into joining the local cable company, Imon. I was told that the service would be less expensive and the they would buy out the early cancelation contract if I choose to switch from Mediacom. The contract needed to be canceled at time of picking up their service, and yet I was also told because I wouldn’t have the papers until later I would be able and bring them in when I could and they would honor their part of the agreement. Now today, after spending sixteen months going into Imon’s office delivering documents that never seemed to be sufficient to verify my end of the contract cancellation with Mediacom and now with the correct documents in hand, I have received the official decision that they are not going to honor their end of the signed agreement. They will be keeping the $90 they owe my family. This is sad for any company to value $90 over the importance of their customers and their own reputation. This incident should be viewed as a bearing of trust to anyone who is trying to decide if they wish to patronize the Imon company or another. Well I was happy to pay Imon $200 to cancel our contract early and I do have I do have two things I will admit I gained from the time I was with Imon. One was frequent intermittent outages and scheduled down time that was extremely inconvenient. Yet through these time of unavailable service, My family and I realized how little we needed to have cable service at all. Now we enjoy being back with Mediacom for internet service only which has been very reliable I don’t believe we have been down but once, and we are enjoying a savings of nearly $100 per month. I Lastly I must say I never ever expect something for nothing but will say shame on you Imon for your shady “used car salesman tactics” and lack of integrity to follow through with the promises you make for make the almighty buck with your substandard product
