Unreliable equipment, poor service, horrible customer service, typical cable company. Besides the "tiling" we have faced due to failing HD converter boxes (rented from SECTV) after a year or two, we also had the following maddening experience. After welcoming a baby boy to our family nearly a year ago, my wife and I fell behind on some of the shows we like to watch. Luckily, we had DVR to save all the episodes and watch them at our convenience and fast forward through commercials.... WRONG!!! The DVR was ~90% full and contained 6+ months of many of our shows. Then one day in April, they suddenly disappeared. After a couple calls to SECTV, they reappeared only to subsequently disappear again in May. This time they did not come back and we had to schedule a technician to come out 3 weeks later--we were told he might be able to restore the content. We also were promised a call from a supervisor but that call never came. The only thing the technician could do was swap the box, since SECTV does not offer any means to retrieve or transfer recorded content. In requesting a refund for many months of cable and DVR services we already paid for and lost (hundreds of dollars) due to SECTV equipment failure, SECTV offered us a paltry $12.95 for 1 month of box failure. Despite the failure of the rented SECTV equipment, the customer service agent Chris R. actually told us it was our fault for not watching the DVR content within 1 month!!! We have requested many times over the last 5 weeks (initially weekly voicemails, now daily) to discuss this situation with his supervisor (Phyllis) who made the final determination. On at least two occasions, we were told by Chris it may take a few days for her to get back to us. We are still waiting for that call... and figuring out the best way to cut the cord!

Terrible terrible and sadly disappointed!! I have promoted and sung Service electric praises in the past, but over the past 4 years, not only have I had not been compensated fees for internet service that was hardly ever working.. but I have been, I feel "flagged" in their office. I work from home and NEED my internet service on. When my family ran into hard times they were unreasonable and unmovable with their billing. A bill that is only $35-$55 dollars a month, they will shut me off for less than $200.00!!! I have a running history with the company!! I have to wait to get my funds and to help them out I asked if their was any discounts for paying for service for a full year and they had no options for internet! I dont get it! One of the customer service agents plainly said to me, well why dont u pay your bill on time, you might not have this problem!! How dare she say such a thing! So what if Im late!! Am I not paying!?! You shut me off right in the middle of me making the income to pay you, tell me that I can make a partial payment but I have to come up with the rest the next day. Says that $80.00 will satisfy the bill. I pay them $60. I told them I can give you some but what if my check dont come the next day, can we push it back? Mind you we are still in the same billing period, the bill is prorated and its not even due yet!!! But you turn me off the next day and make me pay an additional $50 just to restore service when I didnt even have the $60 and you could of just said $20 which would of made up the $80!!!! Im sooooo thru with your weak management, mean and nasty customer reps and your half ass working service!! But your tech support staff be on point.

My story...oh boy...ready? Always outages. No resolutions. Never missed a bill. Im not even the account holder and I was able to get them to credit my girlfriends account, yet they didnt let her make any changes to her account due to her ex husband still being on the account. She was the one paying every bill in her name since day one. Out of her direct checking account in her name, not the exs. It took SIX submissions of sectvs weird legal forms to get the account rightfully into her name. After several weeks of thinking we were settled, our internet gets cut off due to the ex husband cancelling it. Now, we were told we have to restart the policy, pay installation fees, etc, when sectv could have just done their job SIX times ago. Regardless, me, being technically some stranger that theoretically just went to someones house and reporters to their internet provider that their internet sucked, was able to get sectv to pay 19 dollars in credit without me giving my personal information whatsoever. Really screwed up honestly. Second, we were given 50/Mbps speed upgrade out of sympathy because sectv has a horrible reputation with our residence and resolving their issues/outages. It took another week for that speed to get to our home, only because I called and complained that the speed tests were still delivering 25/Mbps. They had to manually "restart" our policy, which they already said they did a week prior, and they never planned on letting us know that we had to call them and demand that. So totally off. I have millions more examples too but my fingers are getting tired. They are getting better, but only inch by inch due to massive complaints by everyone

Internet from Service Electric is mediocre at best, downright laughable at worst. Their best plan, which is 25/2 goes for about $59.99 a month (if you dont buy their cable, they add another $10 a month to your bill)... For that same amount of money, I could get a 100/100 plan from Verizon FIOS if Service Electric didnt have a monopoly in my area. The worst part is that under PenTeleData (which is where Service Electric gets their internet) you can only have 5 computers wired to the network. Now this wouldnt be a real problem if computer just meant computer. But alas, in PenTeleDatas policy, a "computer" means the modem, any Ethernet switches or splitters, along with wireless routers and computers. After paying several thousand dollars to have Ethernet wired throughout our entire home, my family and I found that we couldnt use that upgrade because after our modem, Ethernet Switch, Wireless Router, and one computer (notice thats 4 devices) are hooked up, the network automatically denies access to any new devices. Service Electrics tech support has no idea that this policy exists, and only by going through PenTeleData can you find out that to use more than 5 "computers" you need to pay upwards of $1,000 monthly (no exaggeration here, seriously) for a "business" connection. All in all, Service Electric is your standard internet monopoly that gives sub-par service, and charges outrages costs for that service. At this point, I would pay Verizon to lay down their line through our area if it meant this area would finally have decent internet.

Terrible service. We contacted SE mid-August because our bundled land line isnt working, and after several calls that were all different, someone finally made an appointment for us....for AUGUST 30 (three weeks later). We sent another message this week letting them know how many calls are being dropped, and got a return message that they would try to schedule something earlier. Today...around noon, they sent an email that said they were coming at 1:00. Now, I dont know if they expect everyone to be watching their email messages constantly, but my husband and I both work and dont look at our personal emails except maybe once or twice through the day. I came home around 1:15 just by chance, and there was a tag on the door that SE was here and we missed them. So I called....she wanted to see if they could come out again, but I had to go back to work and told her I would have my husband call. When he called, she said they would schedule another appointment....he did remind her that we do have one for August 30, but she said, "when they came out today, they cancelled that appointment." Now, please tell me why they would cancel an appointment when they were unable to do any service because we didnt even know they were there? If you cant handle the problems....get out of the business!!!
