DO NOT GET CHARTER ! Even while on the phone to try to report a problem to them. The customer service agent says "Im sorry , can you repeat that , I cant hear you". Thats Charter for you. I get dropped calls , when its stormy and lots of rain falls. My cordless phone says "ch. ph. line" . So when it rains it pours with them! Digital cable cuts in and out. When we first signed up for Charter. We had only been a customer for a week , received a bill. Stating we were late paying. WHAT? We just signed up . Usually they pro-rate things like this out. I read elsewhere of it happening to someone else. I needed help today with figuring out where to get a longer cable to reroute our new flat scree on another side of the den. And the lady said "I would have to go to a location to find that out" ! ! Why do I have to travel anywhere? Why cant I find out on the ph. before heading out on a wild goose chase? We had issues back in Sept. 2013 , with connection issues. Had a tech come out. The first thing he said was "where is your pole"? Not Hi, how are you , I am so & so" . Just "where is your pole" ? He got on our roof to check the lines. When he left. I went to throw out trash . Saw wires HANGING OFF MY ROOF ! I called Charter reported shoddy work. A supervisor came out. Said he would re-schedule a time for that tech. to come back out and fix it. WTF? ! ! ! Why couldnt he get up there and put the wires back himself? Anyways , he nor the tech EVER came back out ! And he was s supervisor. He even said to me "Charter doesnt take care of its customers. The only reason why he was working for them now. Was that he had lost his other job, and this was the first he was offered. So he took it to pay his bills. I have witnesses with him saying this also. As soon as I find another provider in my area. We are changing. In fact , my husband is on his cell now checking. CHARTER. . . YOU SUCK !

There are some ups and downs to Charter. I have had my bad experiences but also my good experiences. If you want good service every time take the time to write down the name of the associate you spoke to on the phone. The only time I was serious about canceling with Charter was when they said that they will fix my modem and router for free but then charged me for it. But after just being calm but being vigilant with not having to pay, and having the associates name who told me it was free as well as the technician who said it was free I got the $40.00 taken off for charges. I have never had problems with their Internet speed, a lot of problems that people associate with bad Internet speed is most of the time there is something wrong with their computer. But sometimes its not the case that there is something wrong their Internet. Every Internet place will have its pros and cons. But if you are starting out and need a good Internet with high speed and low price, I suggest Charter. In a nut shell for those who dont want to read a long paragraph: Pros: 1. Cheap price 2. Fast Internet 3. Available pretty much anywhere 4. Has an amazing machine phone system that will help with all Internet problems most of the time cutting out the middle man. 5. A lot of locations with short waiting time Cons: 1. Can have bad customer service from time to time (But you will run in the same thing at other places) , but stay vigilant and youll get what you need done plus some. 2. You will get sales calls from time to time from them 3. Sometimes their associates dont know what they are sayibg 4. If your neighborhood is having charter Internet problems during a store you will too 5. Their machine to help reboot your router and modem can be annoying at 2am

I absolutely cannot stand Charter. We moved into an apartment complex where Charter is really our only option and we have had difficulty dealing with them from the beginning. Because my husband is employed for 3 weeks at a time offshore, I handle all of our bills. To do this easily, I set up auto-pay in order to make sure my bills are paid on time. In the 8 months we have had Charter, I have been notified THREE times that my services would be discontinued due to past due balance. When you enroll your account into auto-pay, it takes "up to 40 days" for the auto-pay to activate. Easy enough, however, you have to remember to pay 2 months of a "one time" payment (1 immediately and 1 about a month later prior to the 40 day timeline it takes for autopay to start). What they fail to mention is that if you use the same account you have selected for your autopay to make a one-time payment, your auto-payment cancels and you have to start from scratch. This becomes a problem when you THINK you have your account on auto-pay and about 2 weeks past your due date you have accrued late fees and you get letters in the mail informing you that your services would be shut off. NOBODY calls to let you know. They collect their late fees without ever informing the customer. It is just irritating. The part that makes me the most mad, is that I CHECKED my account several times to make sure I didnt owe them, and each time i logged in it would say "auto-payment will deduct XXX.XX from your account on DATE" and a balance due would indicate nothing. I do NOT recommend Charter. To top it all off, the customer service agents expect you to fork over 5 dollars for them to accept payments over the phone. AT&T and Verizon FIOS have much better customer service.

Oh how I miss Charter, unfortunately I moved to an area in town they do not currently service. I have been an AT&T U-Verse customer for 3 days, sat on hold for 5 and a half hours, install tech was 3 hours late, box stopped working hours later and they stated they would come between 8-12 but never showed up or called to say they were not coming. Finally fixed it myself after awhile. With Charter you get a live person in under a minute and they are incredibly efficient in what they do. My parents were Charter customers in St. Louis when I was kid and I was happy to be in their area when I moved to Texas, it was a no brainer. I have had Comcast, terrible (their customer service people are so uneducated it is not even funny) and now U-Verse (Indian outsourced representatives you can barely understand and talk to you like you are stupid, even though internally they cant even keep tabs on their employees or customers). Charter is hands down the best I have experienced. It always worked (being a home business owner that is huge) and every time I called (maybe once or twice a year) I was talking to someone in under a minute. They just cancelled my account in minutes too. What I wouldnt give to be back in your route. If you do indeed end up doing business with Comcast though, I may have to change my mind.
