I took My2003 E500 to Import Car Center only to get a outrageous estimate for work I really did not need $5300 total. To start with I was told I need motor & transmission mount they were collapsed $740 ,I had already replaced the motor mounts needless to say they were not broken. Was told my transmission pan and connector housing is leaking, I had replaced those items summer of 2013 was quoted $499 to flush and reseal it. I went home and look in to it. The pan was damp with oil from engine oil from rear seal leak, not the transmission pan. ICC quoted me $366 for Battery replacement, I took it Sears they installed a AGM Gold DieHard Battery no charge but for battery $153.... I originally went in for Airmatic Suspension rear Airbag replacement with broken wires to my air compressor pressure relief valve to be repaired which I had informed of work to be done. Bret quoted me $645 for a new compressor and repair the wires was told compressor was weak and making a odd noise. I looked in to it myself the compressor runs great no odd noise and puts out 150psi no problem.... The Airmatic Airbags parts 2bags Made my Arnott were quoted me to cost 2 bags for $1198, I was able order them from the Arnott Industries myself shipped to my house for $314 EA plus total of $18 for S&H. Labor of $735 to install. Import Car Center was more interested in running up my repair bill then just repairing what I had asked to do. How sad. I can only imagine how many customer have bought into these unwanted and un necessary work. I would highly recommend not patronizing this center. Than to top it all off Bret had the nerve to charge me $98 for a diagnostic fee. For something I had already told him of the problems Im having. So all in all I did all this work myself for $839 . including parts & labor those bags are not difficult to replace.

Before visiting ICC I called an acquaintance and his impression is ICCs work is thorough, but they tend to recommend replacing entire systems instead of just the defective part(s). After my visit I can confirm this impression. This means their repair bill tends to be on the high side. In general Im OK with this approach to car repair. Reason: you go there because the car is out of warranty and in many cases have racked up 70k/80k or even >100k miles. For many European brands (MB/BMW/Audi) this means the sensors/gaskets/hoses/fluid reservoirs/fans/water pumps etc start to go. You can decide to change the one defective part or change other related and close by pieces in one visit. For instance, there is a good chance that when the alternator dies, the water pump is probably up in age and is going soon. Both are buried deep instead the engine bay and adding the water pump to the bill pads the overall costs by a $300-$400. But if you leave the water pump alone, and it goes bad in three months, the shop is going to charge you $700-$900 to get to it because it takes a few hours of labor just to get there. Back to the work they performed on my car... overall it is satisfactory saved for the few dirty fingerprints here and there (and dont think the dealer is any better in this regard). I will go back again for items I cant do myself (i.e. the above mentioned items) or cant find cheaper sources to do (dont go for brake jobs, battery, oil change, etc., if you can do yourself or find other non-import specialist to do), and dont go for electrical stuffs (like the review by another person about a jammed minivan door). In short, for engine/power-train related repairs, go to ICC. For others, find a cheaper source.

IF YOU ARE A FEMALE, or have a WIFE or a DAUGHTER....DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Not only will the owner BRET obtain your PHONE # from the system, (without your permission) and then attempt to inappropriately and unprofessionally TEXT message you and hit on you via text late at night. He might randomly send you pictures of some hobbies he likes to do,- IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY.. OR NIGHT. Or he might send you a picture of his big truck that he drives? or EVEN his favorite food he is cooking for dinner that night? Followed with finding it necessary to ask you a bunch of personal questions about yourself and why you mightve tried taking your car to a different service center. Yeah, hell ask you who they were and why you took them there! And then when I tried to have a serious conversation with him about why he charged me WITHOUT TELLING me, the bill- $60 or so,) and confront him that it was bad customer service... he sends me another inappropriate text message and accuses me of flirting??? Also, I am half his age- I am about 20 years younger than him. Yes, hes a creeper. This man Bret is an over-confident sociopath and will name off all of his "European credentials" any chance he gets. But he says it in a way like that annoying smart kid in the class that we all hated. If you want good service and not get creepily hit on via text AND not get lied to, extorted from your money and conned--- Dont go here. INSTEAD bring your car to Ultimate Bimmer Service in Carrollton- theyre AMAZING and honest. Or Marshall Motors in Dallas- Great people and GREAT customer service!

I’ve been bringing a variety of German cars to ICC for several years, on the recommendation of my neighbor. While I can say that the mechanical work quality has been satisfactory, dealing with Bret leaves one cold, as he’s always and not too subtly padding the bill. In a more egregious example, I recently brought one of my German cars in for work needed on 4 separate issues, and I was given a fairly sizable quote for the entire scope of work. When I opted not to do the 2 most expensive pieces of the quote, Bret proceeded to change his quote on the fly at his computer, increasing one of the remaining pieces by 50% and doubling the problem ‘assessment’ fee, even though the work had already been completed and was included in the earlier quote. His response was that his earlier quote was only a ‘preliminary’ estimate and furthermore, that I should be happy because he wasn’t charging me storage for my vehicle and besides, the dealer would probably charge me twice as much. I suppose it may be asking too much to get sound mechanical service AND ethical business practices, but I’d recommend you keep looking unless you’re really desperate or you don’t mind feeling like a sucker.

As much as I admire those who are "specialists" in their field. I was saddened as a new resident of Texas to be unhappy with the service of what I perceived as a quality import repair garage. I dropped by the office on Tuesday. Made an appointment for the following Friday (8 AM.) Dropped off the car at 8 AM on Friday-----No phone call from garage by 1:30, so I called them. -->The car had not been even visually inspected for repairs. They promised "by 4 PM" . I (!) called at 3:30 to see if a 4/4:30 pick up time was possible (assuming they made the repairs.) I was told then that they worked on "customers cars that had appointments," I informed them I WALKED into the shop and made an appointment earlier in the week. They did not offer to expedite the service or apologize for their mistake. They told me to just pick it up. I was horrified. I did pick up my vehicle and had the work done in New Mexico with my old residence mechanic. I understand mistakes can be made but without apology for that mistake or wishing to alleviate an unsatisfied customer response, I am just plain surprised.
