I went in to get my oil changed on my 3 year old truck. They did the oil change just fine, but the owner and mechanic approached me and had me walk out to look and an apparent "problem" they had discovered... They showed me a "crack" the serpentine belt and said I should have this changed. I looked at this crack ( which was actually a perfectly straight line) and passed on having them replace it, because I figured it was just as easy to go to the auto parts store and do it myself. I also sensed that something did not seem quite right wit their demeanor and body language while this was going on I wen to my trusted auto parts dealer / owner and had the guy look at the belt.... I told him i had just come from Precision auto tune and they spotted this.......My auto parts guy told me that belts like mine do not split in a perfectly straight line because of the multiple grooves in the belt.. He said that the straight line split is because someone "slit it" with a razor knife just enough to show you an issue, but not enough to detrimentally damage the belt as to make it unusable... He has been n the bizz sincethe 70s and said it is an old trick shady places use to get extra buisiness. He sai you can spot this because he cut was much to clean, not a rubber deteriorated crack which would be some what jagged... Since they slit the belt and I knew they would deny it, I purchased the belt for $40 from my auto parts guy and replaced it myself in 5 minutes..I will NEVER go back,,,,, and tell all of my friends about my experience and to take their business elsewhere. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SLEEZE BALLS

This shop is a rare find in the auto repair business. I had a problem with my drivers window coming off track and forgot to tell them about it when I brought it here for an emissions test. They spent a good amount of time putting the window back in place and charged me nothing for their time even though it was my fault for not telling them. I asked for a quote to replace the window regulator and they gave me a very reasonable one. I tend to do a lot of work on my cars myself but I wanted no part of this job as I had already spent hours fiddling with the window right after I bought the car and knew what a pain it would be. The job took longer than estimated but they stuck to the price they had quoted me and I didnt mind waiting because I knew the job was complicated. While waiting I observed several patrons coming and going and was very impressed with the interaction between the staff and their customers. I could go on and on but you get the point. The most honest and fair shop I have ever experienced. I will recommend this place to everyone I know.

I took my Dodge Ram to these guys because my engine light was on and my transmission seemed to be having problems. They charged me $200+ for the diagnosis in which they told me I had severe metal shavings in the transmission and needed to have it re-geared or replaced. The guy even showed me metal shavings he supposedly found in there. They quoted me something like $3500 to replace the transmission and didnt give me any other option. So, I took the truck to Dodge...Dodge charged me $75 for a diagnosis and determined my transmission just needed an oil change and the "problem" I was having was because the ECU dumbed down the power so the transmission wouldnt be ruined with the burnt oil. Changed the oil at Dodge and the truck drove perfectly. ***Precision Auto Tune: you should be shut down. You are full of crap and just want to screw people out of money. Dont you realize youll make more money by being honest??? It is because of mechanics like you Americans cannot trust mechanics. SHUT DOWN NOW

These people do totally gouge you, they know how to stay between the lines. If you go there other than to have the fluids changed in your car, be specific in what you want and nothing else, they will tell you that something else is wrong with your vehicle, and if you dont heed their advice, in order to make it more convincing they will have you to place your initials on a form about the additional "problems" that they saw and if you refuse to have those repaired, they will also verbally throw in there that "Your car is unsafe to drive", so be ready for that. I took my minivan there once to have the brakes changed, a few months later I took it to the Mazda dealership for a different problem only for them to tell me that the brakes were installed the wrong way. Wow, brakes probably the most important part of the vehicle, my car was safer to drive with the old brakes on it. These people are a piece of work.

We have always received superior customer service from these folks. We have had some difficult to diagnose rattles and other problems that we took to them. They never charged for fruitless diagnoses. They have only charged when they have made sure it has been fixed and we have been satisfied. We have an old Odyssey that has developed legitimate problems. They are always careful to explain when they find something beginning to go wrong what is safe and what is at entirely our option. They are cognizant of the balance we face putting more money into an older car. But we need to keep this running for awhile longer and they are helping us do that. Several times they have gone out of their way to find out additional information so we could make informed decisions. I dont understand some of these other reviews. I really feel like the folks at this Precision Tune are the good guys!

recently moved to the area - health issues make me in charge of little things like oil changes - i googled and loved the reviews or precision tune auto care in university place - called this morning and found it was first come first serve - kathy was the one that answered the phone and that energy made me feel good about making the trip to university place from tacoma - got there - the energy, bar none, was awesome - service was incredible - made sure i knew that they would be asking me whether i wanted anything other than the oil change - they did that - the boss was fun and engaging - slow time of the day so he was the entertainment and i say that in such a great way... go there i feel you will not be disappointed --- go with a good heart and you will enjoy the old change a lot more thanks you guys for making some of the stress in my life disappear

I have all the maintenance on my vehicles, both major and minor, performed at Precision Tune Auto Care - University Place. I have always found that Mr. Karims skilled technicians perform the repairs/maintenance correctly and have the vehicle ready for pick up when promised. Recently, Precision Tune became a certified Washington State Department of Ecology Emission Testing Center. As luck would have it, I needed to have an emission test on one of my cars so I took it to Precision Tune. While I paid $10 more to have the test performed at Precision Tune rather than the State testing facility, I saved over $6 in gas and over an hour of my time counting the drive to/from the State test facility and waiting in line to have it performed. Having your emission check performed at Precision Tune is a real value!
