My husband and I were so excited when we found out he had been "accepted" to uti in avondale arizona. After living in a very small town in idaho we were excited to get out and see a little more than our next door neighbors. When we moved here to az my husband got a job working as a diesel mechanic the reason we were going through school was to get that so loved certificate that employers love to see. From the first day we started school at this horrible place until even after he had graduated it was a nightmare after trying to get paper work done and waiting for hours to be seen and then them not even being able to help you with the problem it was so frustrating. My husband hated pretty much every class that was needed to be taken for him to graduate with about 4 months left he decided to test out of his last classes because he couldnt stand how horrible the teaching was and that sitting at a desk was not really teaching him anything besides how to watch people take their money from you claiming things will be hands on. (I think this school is for people who have no idea what or even where the engine or other things are in the car) after testing out and graduating we received a call stating that because we tested out we have to come up with the money because our student loans would not cover because if You test out uti changes how they bill that out. they bill out by credited hours not credits themselves so their for we had to come up with 5 grand! At this point my husband had been a diesel mechanic for about 4 years now and had most of the tools he needed well you know how you get that 1000 dollar snap on credit? Oh by the way did you know that expires 90 days after you gradutate? Oh us either until we specifically asked someone then they Told us. Well turns out that when you go to use your snap on credit you dont get to use that credit on WHATEVER you want like we were told, you get to choose from 4 different selections of what they offered through that deal talk about ridiculous. So all in all Im saying dont ever waist your time and money going there. If you can just start working in the field and work your way up and let your employer help you get certified in what they need then do it. Make sure that if you choose to go to this school and disregard this review make sure you read ALL of the fine print. Even though that wont help because at the school they have a whole different book of problems there. THEY TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY!!

I want to start, by saying; I only came to this school for Mercedes Benz training. At the time I had 10 years invested in the automotive field. Was told "Oh yeah, you can do that". Once I was half way through my first coarse, was told " We dont have M Benz anymore" wtf. Okay well, at least I get the Associate Degree. " Oh were not an accredited campus" wtf! So I relocated from Houston, TX; to Avondale, AZ. Graduated in 2011. Because of this "Great School" Im in the hole $52k. Auto, diesel, industrial, & BMW. Had a 4.0 GPA ( until towards the end, 3.8); and perfect attendance. If you scroll down these comments, all these people say the same thing. " You get out, what you put in" , BS. I put in the time, I did the work, the labs; and was a dedicated student. What people have to realize, is this is just a product. This company is no different, than Subway or Walmart. It is SOLD to be this great thing. That is what UTI is supposed to do. But in all reality, you can see the difference in how youre treated; before, and after youre enrolled. Once you are in, they got you. Then the UTI staff can show you just how much they "care" about their cattle. You can listen to the disgruntled kids that didnt pay attention. You could listen to the students, that are so blindly optimistic; they smell what theyre shoveling. Or, you could listen to me. Save time. Save Money. Go somewhere else. Unless you have time, and money, to waste. Fake school, with fake people, for fake mechanics.

I attended this school from 2005-2006, completing the automotive program and Ford FACT program. As most people have stated, you get what you put in. I actually found the school to be quite educational, but then again, I tried to remain focused while in class. Yes, there are a lot of immature students that attend, probably because the nature of the business, but just try not to let that interfere with your studies. Upon graduating, it seemed to be a trend that, although youre not promised a job, a UTI graduate was more likely to get hired than a non-graduate. I had no issues getting hired at one of the local dealerships shortly after graduation, along with a bunch of other friends/ classmates. In addition, if you plan on going for a Bachelors degree, most schools will transfer in a decent amount of credits from your UTI "degree." I ended up enrolling in UOP a few months after graduation and was able to bypass a bunch of the general education classes due to UTI credits successfully transferring. Just a thought, especially if you are unsure if you want to be a tech for the rest of your life. Overall, if you are interested in the field, this school is definitely one to consider. Yes, some of the teachers are a little big-headed about themselves. Yes, a decent population of the school consists of immature, arrogant students. But most importantly, its up to you on how far and how seriously you want to take your education. Good luck!

This school probably helped me get to where I am today (at a decent job making decent money) but to tell you the truth, the thing that REALLY got me to where I am today was knowing the right people at the right time. I graduated from here and went to the International training up north that I got accepted into. Honestly my first job at a dealership after getting done with my schooling from UTI wasnt the greatest & the pay was not what I was expecting either. I was actually pretty pissed off that I went to school and got in a lot of debt for that first job I had. The school counselors I talked to here at UTI, before I enrolled, fed me a bunch of BS -they said Id be making 50k the first year after I graduated (not even close), and they also told me that UTI was partners with the University of Phoenix & that I could build upon my Associates degree from UTI at that school after I graduated. I went to University of Phoenix a year and a half after I graduated and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. They said nothing would transfer over and I would have to start all over again. Not cool. The good thing is that if you dont know much about mechanical stuff, this school will teach you from the ground up.
