I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SOUTHSIDE AUTO REPAIR in Lexington, KY In May 2012 my 2004 Impala began having some unpredicted starting difficulties. When I say, “Starting Difficulties”, once it was hooked up to jump with jumper cables it would take as much 45 minutes before the interior lights would come on and even longer for the running lights. I would be driving my car and not one problem with it, turn the car off and it would not start (did not matter if the car sit for 5 minutes or 5-10 hours before trying to start again) not even the lights or window controls worked. The “Check Engine” & “Security” lights would come on. However, when I would get it to an auto parts store or a mechanic the darn warning lights would go off before they could hook it up to a computer. Since May I have had the battery replaced, new starter and new master window switch… A friend, retired mechanic, is an honest man and he told me that he truly believed it had something to do with the Ignition Switch, but he believed there was another underlying issue. He told me that we needed to find a qualified repair shop that would not take one to the cleaners (financially). And the only person that would come to mind was David Lewis with Southside Auto Repair. I’ve known David and his family for several years and felt I could take it there. So, I called and explained to David what was going on with my car and he was able to work me into their busy schedule that afternoon. When I arrived I was treated professionally and was not discounted that I was female. He and his son, James, both listened to what my observations of what was going on with my car and what had already been repaired or replaced. James went right to work to research any reported or know problems with the make and model of my car through the manufacturer compiled it with their personal experience with autos of like nature and did a complete diagnostic testing. Note: my cars “Check Engine” lights once again did not come back on once I had turned my car off after arriving at their shop. James concluded that my car’s “Security” light was indicating an ignition switch was needed and the “Check Engine” light was indicating an oil pressure switch was needed. All of this was extremely affordable and the security and the peace of mind of being able get into my car and trust that it will start is “PRICELESS”! I rest much better at night. WARNING DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLES HERE, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, LIE TO YOU AND STILL NOT REPAIR YOUR CAR, AND/OR BREAK SOMETHING ELSE THEN TELL YOU THEY RECOMMEND REPAIRING OR REPLACING THE PROBLEM , THEY CALL IT THEIR MULTI-POINT INSPECTION COURTESY OF THEM.HORRIBLE, LIARS AND CROOKS BEWARE!!! From Missouri I came to Lexington on vacation with my daughters, when my alternator went out I called what appeared to be an honest and well established auto mechanic shop. However Southside is the exact opposite, they took full advantage of my family as I was traveling with my mother and daughters, our husbands were not with us, long story short, My car went in to have the alternator replaced and my bill exceeded $1100.00!!! To top that off the problem was not only worse then before but now 2004 Nissan Murano AWD, sounded as if my entire rear end as well as my passenger side wheel were all but hanging by a very very thin string! they have yet to return my calls I have since taken my car to 2 honest and genuinely good mechanics, only find out my fears were all to correct, as now my Murano needed the passenger front wheel hub assembly, a new Trans Axle, control arms, a new rear end, oh and an entire new fuse box BC the alternator South side replaced was not installed correctly and blew out several fuses making the car near impossible to start and/or stall out if i did get it started, South side also included an estimate of all these additional things they said were wrong with my car totally up to another $1100.00, flushing my transmission was one, which is impossible as my transmission is a NO MAINTENANCE TRANSMISSION, which was the first thing the other shop noticed was that my transmission was virtually empty and a seal that goes on the axle was missing causing a leak, so driving it did near irreparable damage to my transmission!!! South side Ill See you in Court!!I hope you never are able to work another car for money as long as you live, you are a disgrace to all mechanics, oh and the certified mechanics that confirmed you basically committed fraud against me and my mother for whom paid the bill with her credit card, they are also going to make sure I am the last person you ever take advantage of and will be in court by my side to ensure you are shut down and my mother gets every dime she paid to you and the interest for her credit card used to pay this outrageous and fraudulent bill !!!!

Yesterday on our way from South Carolina we had a situation with our car. Part of the under cartridge had been ripped off. Panicked we began trying to find an auto center that was open. It was 3:50 in the afternoon. Every place was either closed or didnt answer. When we finally found Southland they answered and said they would stay open even though we were 25 minutes away at this point making it 4:30 when we arrived. We were met in the parking lot by two gentlemen who greeted us with smiles and ready to help us. Luckily nothing had to be done to the car and even after staying late and looking at the car they refused any payment. True southern gentlemen! One of the things that made this incident even better is the fact that our daughter goes to UK and now we have a place that we trust to send her to if something should happen to her car. She put their number in her phone and this ha s given us a great piece of mind! We recommend if you have a kid in the vicinity to do the sameness. Thanks again Southland Auto!

I had a wonderful experience at Southside Auto Repair and will definitely be returning to them if my car has any more trouble in the future! The staff was incredibly nice and conversational, they explained what was wrong with my car and how theyd repair it without condescending me as many other auto shops have tended to do as I am a 20 year old, slight woman with little car knowledge. Once they explained the services needed to me, they wrote up a detailed statement and asked my permission before going ahead with any service, which I really appreciated. Once they started on my car, the services were done in a timely manner and I am very pleased with the result! My car drives like it should again and I feel much safer driving it around Lexington now :)

As I get to my car after a very long Monday workday, it wont start. I know enough to know its not the battery, and realize quickly I am in bind. I sat in my car a whirlwind of emotions, this is NOT how my wedding week is suppose to start. Once my fiance gets there we soon realize its nothing we can fix. I call the guys Southside Auto Repair and within 20 mins they were there (in a very tight fit parking garage) to tow the car. It took them ONE day to fix it, by far some of the fastest work I had encountered. These are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with, they fixed my car and even made sure she was all shined up for my big day. I get married in two days and thanks to them I can get there :) Can recommend them enough !!!
