Well, there are two reviews giving Midco "one star," and as a trusted "google local guide," I feel it is my responsibility to weigh in. I have had Midco internet service in Vermillion, SD for about four years. The whole time, I have had the lowest bandwidth package, and I have never had a problem speed-wise. The pros: Honestly, compared to equivalent internet service in other areas, this is very cost effective. Nearly every customer service representative is friendly and helpful. Internet outages are rare. Setup is plug and play. For the most part, with midco, get your service, set up auto bill pay, and forget about it. The cons: If there is an internet outage, you have to call them to figure it out. For me, this is a pretty serious oversight. I ALWAYS assume it is my modem or router first, and usually will spend about a half an hour diagnosing before I realize it has to be the internet, then I somehow have to find midcos number to call and hear a recording stating the internet is out. There really should be an automated service that texts me when the internet is down in my area... Another kind of a con: in four years there have been I think three cost increases. This is really more of a neutral, because I think I pay like four dollars a month more than when I first subscribed, but with one of the cost increases came a speed increase, so overall this probably is not a con. Come to your own conclusions here, but I think the other two reviews may have been outliers.

I really dont understand the other reviews, except for the fact that the most likely people to speak up are people who arent getting what they want (and are unlikely to remember to change it if they ever get things fixed). I am a computer science major and gamer in Vermillion, SD. After living in various areas under multiple ISPs, I can say that Midco is honestly one of the best ISPs in the country. Especially in light of the recent battles over Net Neutrality. You dont see any of the issues with throttling or data limits that you see in other ISPs recently, no underhanded attempts at creating a monopoly, etc. Their customer service is helpful and enjoyable to talk to. Their service is WAY smoother with far less outages than those experienced by my online friends under nationwide big-name ISPs. Overall this ISP is absolutely phenomenal, was rated a top ISP in the nation for gaming by PCGamer, and I will regret when I may have to leave its sadly small coverage area in search of a job after college.

Awful service on a consistent basis. Not to mention their phone number hasnt updated so theres no way to get technical help! Any other service, please come to Sioux Falls and make Midco an afterthought. Ill be the first to sign up!

The worst Internet provider Ive ever had. I pay 165 a month in cable and Internet and it crashes constantly and I cant even get 4 bars even though I pay more per month to get higher Internet speed. This place is a joke.

We pay 130 bucks every month, the cable is alright, but the internet sucks, seriously.
